I live in a one bedroom apartment with two Guinea Pigs. I started having a bad allergic reaction. Trouble breathing was making it so I couldn't get to sleep at night. I noticed a major lessening of my symptom's when I switched my GPs from Timothy Hay to Orchard Grass. I was starting to consider finding another home for them before I switched the hay. Overweight Male Guinea Pig

I have a male guinea pig just over a year and he weighs 4 lbs.. I know he is really fat because even the vet said so. I am just wondering what should I do to get him to lose weight? I give him a lot of timothy hay and pellets.. He has a big cage and can run around but tends to yawn and lay all the time.. He only gets up to eat/drink. My piggies just got their first try at Oxbow hay, and it is amazing!! I was skeptical about the quality really being better, but I'm a believer now!
The quality difference is absolutely astounding!!

I was soooo disappointed to learn this... Many American-made pet toys apparently have dangerous levels of lead and other toxic chemicals in them. I never buy Chinese for this reason, but I never guessed that American companies would do this too.

I wanted to give my cavies a special little treat the other night, so I brought one of them (Tina) into the kitchen with me to act as a taste-tester and we put together this little recipe. It sounds really gross... actually it is, I tasted a little... but all three of my pigs went crazy for it!! I live in Florida, and it's been hot (to me) for a while now. I had moved Chai in March to our screened porch so she could get a little change in atmosphere, but now I'm thinking it's too warm. I have raised 3 healthy guinea pigs for almost 3 years and have put vitamin drops in their water which I was told was to be their main source of vitamin C. I have recently read alot of opinions that all seem down on the drops because they have a lot of extra vitamins that can be harmful and the vitamin c in the water degrades very quickly. okay, so my GP was diagnosed with an early case of URI so she is currently getting treatment and has to stay with the vet. I am a new GP owner and I wanted to know if there is anything I need to do specifically to insure that her cage is clean. I don't want to get her back and have her catch it all over again. If you know anything that I can use to clean the cage with or a specific way I need to clean it to prevent a relapse. Please let me know. Thanks

I must make a confession.

I didn't buy Timothy pellets (or any pellets, for that matter) for the boys last month b/c I thought they had enough to last till this month.

We were 2 days short. Thank goodness I have a foster rabbit right now that eats the alfalfa pellets provided by the shelter, I thought.

i have one piggie and a male bunny , i use fleece because its cheap and i cant afford to do bedding. i have two ion pros , you would think i wouldnt have a smell problem but i do . i change the fleece regularly but it smells , i've tryed using the frebreeze duel sent thing yet still smell help im so desprite

They also have a wooden hut home that they occasionally chew on and some wooden chew toys which they ignore.
