Has anyone ever tried using any other type of flooring in their cage? Do you have to use coroplast?

I got a new guinea pig about 2 months ago, he was my first guinea pig. We now have another guinea pig in the home, but they are seperated in different cages and different rooms. We give them healthful diets and they get outdoor excercise. They are both very friendly, but the newest one likes to nibble sometimes. Pet Grass: Is it okay?

I went to pick up my bedding today and decided on buying the girls a treat of "Pet Grass." It says it's good for guinea's, organic, and it had a picture of guinea pigs on it. Has anyone ever used this and is it okay as a treat for them?

Also, off topic; do guinea pigs chase each other to play? Athena will squeak quietly and chase around Elise and run around the cage like a bunch of crazies. After the chasing Elise popcorns. Elise never chases Athena though....

I've wanted to make this cage for a LONG time and I finally got around to it a few nights ago...two years after I originally thought up the idea. Lack of space prohibited me from doing so but now this cage is HUGE! My best friend calls it the Guinea Pimphouse..heh

Pigs and the lawn after "weed and feed"

I normally like to take the pigs outside during the nice weather to graze on the grass, but a few weeks ago I used "weed and feed" on my lawn so I am leery about letting them eat the grass at this time. Like I said it has been a few weeks and it has rained since then. Any opinions if this could be harmful to them?

I'm expanding! Please help with some questions!

Hi all!!

Well, I've finally moved into my own place and now have enough room to expand my c&c cage for my two boys . Poor things have been cramped up for too long. I've decided to build them a whole new 2x6 bottom (since my youngest boy is too bloody dominant for his own good and needs plenty of space to stop being such a pit. Then I'm going to keep the 2x4 they are in now and attach it to the top so it will act as a second level. My boys don't get along...

Dandelion leaves.

I know that piggies love dandelion leaves but is it Ok for them to eat a lot. I have squillions of them in my garden (no chemicals or pesticides around either) and could even feed them on only that 24/7, which I wouldn't do though of course. But is there a limit to how much of them they should eat?

We live in the United States in Maryland. My question is , now that it is warmer can I put the piggys directly on the lawn in the yard? It has not had any fertilizer or pesticides put down this year. I am worried about ticks or fleas or any other parasite that they could catch. What temperature is still too cold for them? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

I've noticed my piggy is a little picky... he likes thinks that are crunchy lol. So today I gave him a piece of my green apple... cuz i read somewhere they tend to know what they can eat and not eat. Does anyone feed their piggies green apples... is good or bad... he did seem to enjoy. So far I know he likes bell peppers, parsley, carrots, Cucumbers and doesn't care for oranges, bananas, or strawberries.

I switched Penelope and Abby over to fleece today. I was tired of picking up the Carefesh stuff that Penelope would throw out of the cage because she hated it and when I used Aspen their running around the cage threw the aspen everywhere. Hello I was thinking about building my own guinea pig cage making it bigger room with no top. The only concern is my cat. She is declawed. But she very playful and I am not sure how cat and guinea pigs?
Anyone please tell me your experience with cat and guinea pigs?
I read you can not let cat and guinea pig alone at all.
If I build a bigger home for my cavy. Do they dig and jump?
Can they climb?
Do they chew things like card board?

I saw pictures of your wonderful cage and I want to add a second level to my C&C. In fact my husband asked what I for my birthday next week and I told him a second level for the pigs. I am wondering how you built and attached the second level. I have an engineer husband who likes plans or instruction. I think yours looks great. I love the fleece on the second level also how did you attach the fleece?

Hi,

My herhas expanded and we have six pigs now. I have four boys and 2 girls so some seperation is necesarry. I Am plannign on building a 3 level cage where Snickers, Rocky, Ted, and Brownie; my boys, would live on the 1st and 2nd floor and Ellie and Reeces woudl live on the 3rd floor. The only problem I am runnign into is I dont have enough connectors to make the cage work and was wondering if the connectors for the cubes can be purchased seperately from the grids.
