guinea pig gender help

Because I pulled my vet up on being wrong in regards to Jensen's gender he has adopted a policy that he will not sex mini pigs until they are 6 to 8 weeks old!!

*screams* major stress alert

With me not driving I find it very difficult to get to other vets

The babies are three weeks tomorrow and I'm really worried I've sexed them wrong so I've taken some pics to see what you guys think...sorry about the quality mini pigs really do not like having...

I have 3 pigs: Colby, Sally and Phoebe and they are all 3 years old. All day long Colby and Phoebe have been mounting Sally. They normally do this to her but now she makes a different squeal and I don't know if I should separate her from them. Sally is very sensitive when Colby gets near her. I don't know what to do.

Recently i've notice my piggie running around and popcorning like crazy. My mom asked me to blog about it bc it seems as though she might be having a fit or very angry... I personally think she is just letting out some of her energy when no one is looking.. can some one explain to me why they run around and popcorn soo much..

I've owned guinea pigs for over 10 years and I've never had one as challenging as Bijou. I gave him the French name for "gem" not knowing how sophisticated he'd turn out to be!

Jou Jou (zhu zhu) obsessively bites anything and everything he can get his teeth onto. Yes I know its natural to bite, but he just doesn't stop. I am becoming convinced that he's bored and I haven't found a way to help him out. He's the fussiest pig I've ever had...

Didn't think I'd have another questions so soon but I do; I was just watching my two girls (I sexed them myself, after staring at cavy sexing sites forever and learning how) and the slightly bigger pig was picking on her sister-so her sister backed up and left behind an opaque glue. Um...would that be considered boar glue? Am I looking at a male instead of a female? After I saw that I sexed them both again, and I could swear they are both females, but then again, I am...

Help!!! recently I've noticed my guinea has started to naw at her plastic home which scares me bc it is plastic and cant that make her sick??? It totally boggles my mind b/c she has wood toys as well as mineral chews for her to chew on...Is this normal or is it something I should worry about??? Im new to the piggie world and could you as much help as possible on how to control this

ok. sometimes when i hold my guinea pig he sounds like he is shivering but he really isnt shivering. he chatters his teeth, and ive read that this is a warning sign usually for other guinea pigs when they dont get along. but he does it at me, and i want to know if i should be worried? is he gonna bite me? he hasnt yet, but i dont want to give him the chance. and how do i make him not to that? ive read in dozens of places how to make friends with your guinea pig and ive tried so many different...

I think there's something wrong with my guinea pig!!

Okay, so here's the deal. Bought a GP at the pet store about 6 months ago and they told me he was a male. I've had him around my females and he has never tried to mount them (please trust me on this...please?) ok, so I started to worry that he was...a she. So, I worried about it a little while and looked up sexing guinea pigs on cavyspirit and I could never do it right. I just thought I was doing it wrong. About 2-3 wks ago, a testicle started to show so I knew for sure he was a boy...

I got my baby boy, Max, on August 23, 2009, it has been almost a month and I don't expect him to think of me as his best friend quite yet. He is still quite skiddish and runs as far away as possible or tries to hide when I go to pick him up. So anyway usually at night I'll give him a handful of hay and try to straighten out the mess he has made in his cage and then chill in bed before I go to sleep. Well every night without fail he comes out of his igloo and runs laps around his cage....

Group introductions, need advice please

We have two girls Bianca and Paloma, both over a year each. We adopted two more piggies over the weekend from a rescue shelter. They are a bonded pair, One neutered Boar, and one female both 2 years old. They are in quarrentine of course and have 3 weeks to go.

I have a question about introductions which I haven't found an answer to in any of the forums including cavymadness.com and cavyspirit.com. Should I introduce the established pair to the new pair all at the same time...

I have a question that I hope someone can answer.
I want to get a guinea pig and wasn't sure if I wanted a male or female. I went to an animal shelter where they had both. After holding the male, but not the females, I noticed a fairly strong odor on my hands. Is this the norm? I then talked to two different very experienced (one was at a rescue) guinea pig people and they said there should not have been a difference. That they did not notice this on any of their piggies. Chewing the sides of his cage

Oreo chews the sides of his cage, he also refuses to play with his toys. All he does is sit there, eat his food, eat his bedding (which is most likely not good) and chews his cage. He also sleeps alot.

Should I be worried??

Litter training question...

Is it possible for a guinea pig to have litter trained himself? I've had Hershey for a little over 3 years, and he only goes to the bathroom in one spot in his cage, and it happens to be right behind his igloo house. I had him out for a little while longer than usual, and he didn't go to the bathroom until I put him in his cage. Did he litter train himself?

we just adopted two cute boars . we got them from a neighbor . they are crazy !!! they run all over the cage ... in and out of thier house ....is that normal ? jumping and flipping around. ?
my real question is about all the different sounds that they make .....

introducing male baby to older guinea pig.. help

Hi so I have my female guinea pig who on june 26th had 3 babies, I have an older male (not the father) who had a falling out with another guinea pig whom we had to give back to the rescue lady. So maybel had 2 females and one male, Simon the older pig has been alone and is pretty lonely, I let him hang out with the babies a few times and have tried to bond him with the male.
Today I changed their cages and put Simon with the baby and this 21 day old male jumped the older male yawned and...

I am getting babies from a neighbor -- I had asked for 2 sows , but now I hear that they only have boars . should I still get 2 ? don't boys fight alot ?
or should I have them in 2 cages side by side ? I have read that they need a friend for companionship .

what about the smell ?? boars tend to smell worse ?? like how much more ???

or should I just scrap it and go to the SPCA and get 2 sows ????

how about my 13 yr old cat ?? do piggies like cats ???...

Help! My Guinea Pig stopped using her litter box

So we recently built our Guinea a nice new big cage for her to live in, but she stopped using her new litter box that went with it. She has always been really good at using her litter box until we moved her. I tried to keep the set up the same as far as the corner the new litter box is in relative to her old cage.

We did get her a new box, but it is the same type of box, just different color. I have replaced her boxes before, so I don't know if that is the problem, or what...

It's my Eve! I came home after my walk at the track and started to do my usual cleaning of the cage and feeding of supertime hay/veggies ritual.
