Hi, I gave my Guinea Pigs a baby block to play with, because I read on here it's a safe toy. But they're chewing it and it's splintering. Do I need to take it out?

Question about cleaning their water bottle

Ok, this is going to sound stupid, but I'm not sure what I should use to clean out my piggies water bottle. I cleaned their cage with a vinegar water solution, but I don't know if I should use something different. I'd use dishwashing liquid, except the top of the bottle is too small to stick a bottle brush in. Suggestions?

Am I doing anything wrong?

I have had two piggies for about a month. I bought them at a petstore (which was probably not very smart) and they are both females, according to the cage they were both in.

My two piggies still won't let me hold them or pet them. One of them, Lola, lets me pet them. but she runs every time I try to hold her. My oher piggy Layla won't let me touch her at all, and I can't tell if they are scared or just playing. If they're scared, is there anything I can do to let...

Broken teeth

Litter training and going outside

Hi, I have two questions. I got Cinnamon and Athena a litter pan when I made their cage. They like to sit in it sometimes and that seems about it. When I first put it in, I used newspaper but Athena would eat it so I switched to critter litter. Now, they sit in it sometimes and I think Cinnamon went once in it. A Stupid Question from a Newbie

Ok, this is going to sound completely stupid and insane, but I have to ask anyhow, because I don't know where else to get the info.

Do guinea pigs sleep? Mine are always awake when I go to bed, but I'm up later than usual tonight, and one of mine is laying down and appears to be sleeping, but as I've never seen them sleep, this is making me nervous. I know, it sounds dumb, but I just want to make sure I shouldn't be taking them to the animal hospital.

I have always clipped my 3 piggies' nails and always just clip off the sharp part, taking care not to clip too far down. But their nails seem to grow quite quickly and are turning around in different directions. They are getting longer and I can't understand why. Hi all cavy slaves --someone from another forum mention something about using a pieace of tubing either pvc or cordboard 4" x9' but to me I don't it works because my piggies will not go in to in to it now since they know i will trap them even if it is a different pieace of pipe, my help question is does the towel idear really work even in a superpet cage they are in now for the time being untill my C&C cage is finished -thank you

this might sound like an odd post this time of year, but I've just thought of something and I'm trying to plan ahead so that I'll be prepared! I live in rural Maine and quite often throughout the year we will lose our power for a few hours or even overnight Sometimes our house will get down to 55-60 F. What is a good safe way that I can keep them warm or will they be okay at that temp? Thanks!

and have been for quite some time. I got them at different times and places (I learned my lesson, yes) and when I tried "introducing" them I freaked out because one was being mean to the other (which I now know is dominance) but the other is so laid back and gentle that I got really worried....

Since then I haven't attempted again but I'm thinking of getting a C&C Cage and I really want them in the same cage. Is there somewhere to go to kind of..help me with...

Shes active, shes happy, and shes young. About 6 months...I don't know what to do. I think shes just shedding, because summer is right around the corner. I would like to have some experienced piggy owners to tell me if she is or not. And shes been eating.

Question about introducing a friend

Baxter has been on my case lately, and I think he has decided he'd like a friend. My problem, though, is that while my cage is big enough for two pigs together, it's not big enough to divide and house two pigs separately with adequate space, and I don't have room to have another cage at a safe distance for a quarantine period. So here are my questions:

1. If I adopt a second male pig that is known to get along with other pigs, is he also likely to get along with Baxter?...

Hi, I have gotten 2 guinea pig's about roughly 4 to 6 week's ago but i can't bond with them... got example i go to see Lucy and if she even sees something or me move she runs into the corner or the igloo,same thing if i try to touch my other pig. i can't stroke 1 of my guinea pig's without them running away,i give them treats all the time and still. i want to pick them up but i can't. sometimes i get lucky and i pick her up..Any Tip's?
