So, I looked through the FAQs that Pooksie posts and am still unable to find a piece of information I found a couple weeks ago when reading up on Cavs.
What are the absolute necessities I need for them? I am in the process of getting the materials to finish my C&C cage (No place around here would just SELL me coroplast. I had to order it from Sue's), so in the next couple days I will finish the cage. I am going to buy a small office shredder to use on the newspaper so I can get away from some bedding costs, but I will most likely use one inch of newspaper and then a top layer of Carefresh (I am actaully very worried about CF because I have heard reports of mites). I will buy a large bag of Timothy Hay(Not enough room for a bale) and a bag of the Oxbow Cavy Pellets.
Currently I have a 12"x12" ceramic tile and a digital thermometer and am saving about three small coke bottles as my room easily gets to 90 in the summer and I would like to not have to move such a large cage into the hall very often. I also have a fan and outlet that I will be able to apply non-direct air circulation. In addition to the ceramic tile, are normal bricks suitable for use in the cage for claws/coolness?
I also purchased one 32oz metal tube/ballbearing water bottle. I have two very thick plastic 8z wide bottomed dishes(Made for cats but the GP dishes they had seemed far too easy to chew). One for pellets and one for veggies. I also bought a "Timber Hide-A-Way" house but might not let them use it during the day because of how hot it gets here in the summer.
I know I need a nail clipper for clipping toenails, but after that and the food items I listed earlier I am not sure what else I need. Any advice on other items I need or the pigs would really appreciate? Thank you!
