Many, many people have ventured on to this board posting rather innocent questions on breeding guinea pigs. Many others have come here after their sow had become pregnant.

Whatever the reason, questions about breeding are generally not well-received here, simply because this board is populated with people who have rescued guinea pigs or who have supported rescues. The general consensus here is that breeding should NOT be attempted by beginners.

(I do not want to say that everyone on this board is against breeding in general, for I am sure there are some varied opinions out there.)

Please, do not post an open question about breeding without being aware of the risks of your actions. Please do not take attacks personally - breeding is a sensitive subject, and this board has seen way too many tragedies borne of irresponsible breeding. We do tend to get very defensive about guinea pigs, only because we have seen so many of then neglected and injured due to inexperience.

We are here to help, but we will always have a bias against breeding.
