Hi Tofu,

Thanks so much for updating their weights online and for including how your sweeties are grouped. I have to say that I found it interesting that 3 of the 4 animals named in my last post are also housed together (more about that later).

I do hope you'll continue your commitment to weigh your animals on a daily basis for the next while; and yes, choosing a consistant time is important (and whether its before or after meals). You have a rare opportunity here Tofu in view of the quantity of animals you have. As for myself, I've mostly had duos, and for a while a trio, so your group is a real treat to read about!

Ebb and Flow:
Once you get a more fixable "baseline" weight - that figure will be your compass. On a personal note my general guide to repeat a weigh-in the same day (or the next) will include a mere 10 gram loss or a 25 gram rise. With my texel boar (Newton), well, I watch him extra carefully, and very often refer to him as "my delicate flower." He's just so sweet, and so is Farley of course!

While there is an normal "ebb and flow" of weight, I think its important to realize that each animal can have its own peculiarties, as well as "shared patterns of unusual loss or gain" within the same pen. In any event, the more you weigh your animals, the more familiar you'll become with them. I've chosen never to be lax even with a 10 gram loss, as this can nose dive all too rapidly...just when you aren't looking.
