Hello all,
My name is Amanda and I live in Fargo North Dakota. I got my first Guinea Pig in July of 2000. I called to respond to a newspaper add about a sugar glider for sale but instead the guy talked me into comming and looking at his guinea pig. When I got there this huge pig was in a cage so small he couldn't turn around. I couldn't leave him there so I brought him home cleaned him up and bought him a larger cage. I named him Wicket bacause he looked just like the Ewok off of Return of the Jedi. He was very sweet and a cuddler. I took him home for a visit and my little brother accidently let him go outside. We found him several days later...he had apparently been found by a fox. I cried for days and everyone thought I was crazy. About two weeks later I was driving by the humane society and I got the urge to stop. I cut across three lanes of traffic and almost caused an accident!!!
I was worth it though because there was another piggy who needed me. My poor Princess had been abandoned because she was no longer a novelty to the family that had origionally owned her. She was very sick at the time but is doing wonderful now. I am actually glad she was so sick because it forced me to go online is search of some answers and look where I ended up!!!!
Princess is all better now and we are fast becomming good friends. I would like to add to my piggy collection someday but am waiting for life to settle down some.
I am currently a senior in college majoring in Criminal Justice and Sociology and minoring in Psychology. I work as an Emergency Medical Technician and do a lot of volunteer stuff with the Fargo Police Department. (My favorite thing is to be a bad guy when our SWAT team is practicing). Thanks to a friend on this board (Kimberly42) I am also adding SCA to my list of activies!!!
Princess and I are glad to be part of this wonderful community. We would like to send extra wheaks Tammy's way for creating such a wonderful place.
Amanda and Princess and in memory of Wicket
