Great idea Tammy! My name is Stephanie and I'm in Idaho (USA).
I got started in this piggy-slave business when I received Kali as a birthday gift from a local PetSmart. Originally thought to be about 6 months old, I now realize she was more like 2! She's my perpetual bad-hair day piggy, an Abbyruvian mix. I call her my calico cowlick.
Then, earlier this summer - I brought home Bean from another area pet store. He looks like a bunny that lost his ears, brown with a white stripe right between his eyes. We (and the pet store) thought Bean was female but were proven completely wrong 4 weeks ago when Kali delivered three tiny guinea pigs.
Now we have 5 guineas! Flower is a little black female with a white stripe down her nose (takes after Dad) and little tufts of white fur just covering her front toes. Hence, the name Flower after Bambi's good skunky friend.
Lugsy looks just like Dad with just a bit more white. His hair has really started to grow and his face resembles a hamster more than a guinea. Pretty hard to find the eyes in there when looking at him face to face.
Bear was the runt of the litter - about 3/4 the size of the other two and completely black. My husband named him because he really does resemble a little black bear cub.
In addition to the guineas - we also have 2 rescued dogs. Tally the Labrador Retriever is a 3-year old from the pound and 'Kia is a 1 1/2 year old Husky/German Shepherd mix that would really love to get a closer look at the fuzzy, squeaky chewtoys Mom calls 'guinea pigs'.
And that's a quick rundown on the zoo!
