I named my current guinea pig Roselyn. (Rose-ah-Lyn) I named her that because that was the name of the girl who sold her to me.
Plus I think its a pretty name. My Mom likes to call her Rosie for short though :P |

My piggies, Alice and Esme, were ROUGHLY named from the Cullens in Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series............... :)
Alice just suited the personality, she is full of energy, and her hair goes every which way. She is extremely affectionate. Esme had just given birth to three babies when I bought her, and Esme is a pretty, motherly name. Of course, I just call her Ezzie for short. |

Mariusz & Saku | #44 | ||
|
We named Mariusz after a famous strong-man, Mariusz Pudzianowski. Our Mariusz is a big bruiser, so the name suits.
We named Saku after a mixed martial artist named Kazushi Sakuraba, for no reason other than we think that Sakuraba is cool. Both of these guys have entries on Wikipedia if you'd like to read about them. |

My boys are named after my husband and his younger brother. Pan born like 2 min before Squeeky, is my husbands mini me. ( yeah they have different moms, same
owner, brought all boars to Petsmart) Squeeky is my hubby's little bro nickname. ( I know Petsmart :0 but I could not leave them there, they were babys,
with big huge boars stumping all around them. I just had to get them)
Whats really cool about them and there names are, I named them before I got them, turns out Pan acts just like my husband, layed back, cuddle monster when no ones around. And Squeeky squeeks, all the time, loudly. |

Ukuthula, Opie, and Lily | #46 | ||
|
My First piggies name was Ukuthula, the Zulu word for peace, because I learned that word while in South Africa and thought it was a really cool word.
My thought my gray and white crested silky looked like an opossum and wanted me to name her posse, I thought that was stupid so she became Opie. Lily's name came with her when she was adopted and I really liked it so it stayed. |

Well Nugget was named because he was leaving us tons of 'little nuggets' everywhere! He still hasn't slowed down lol! Chai is actually short for
Tchaikovsky....we got him(I keep saying him but I think he's a she!) around my wedding anniversary when my husband got me the entire score of the
Nutcracker piano sheet music and I was playing it all the time.

Good thread! I loved reading everyone's replies.
My first two pigs were bought from Petsmart and were given to me as a Christmas gift. I was going to purchase them myself. I had the money to go for them about three weeks from Christmas and I bugged and bugged to be taken to get them. My parents gave them to me lol. I had been debating whether I should use Tigger or Sam. When there were two there was no question what their names would be. When Tigger was a baby he was very hyper, and that is why he got Tigger. Sam got his name because I like the name, and it was the other name I had been debating. Tigger's not hyper now at all, but it's funny when he popcorns, because I can call it 'bouncing'. The current picture to the left is Sam. It suits him...he's a pig with attitude! Snickers & Charlie are my rescue pigs. Charlie came with his name, and I thought it was cute, so it was kept. Snickers had another name but it was terrible, so I wanted to give him another name. My dad suggested Snickers, so it stayed and he's been Snickers every since. Sarah |

I have three piggies, Cocoa (Bean), Tina (Tot), and "Buffy." So far I've just been letting their names "come to me," haha
Cocoa was my first pig. I immediately started calling her my little bean, because when she was young she was shaped like a Bean. Cocoa just got stuck on there... my boyfriend has a hamster named Chai and I think I might have been influenced? lol. I still call her "Bean" a lot. Tina was really really tiny when I first brought her home. I was coo-ing over her like a weird-guinea-pig-person and meant to call her a "Teeny Tiny Tot," but "Tina Tot" came out instead... so that name stuck. The newest baby, "Buffy" (short for buffalo, I guess? although she has been called "buffy the buffalo slayer" at times, too....) got her name because the day that I brought her home, everyone in my family kept saying that she looked like a miniature buffalo. She's dark dark brown with cute little tufts of hair sticking up all in all the right places that really DO make her look like a buffalo! ... so those are my piggies and how their names found me.

Ginger and Mary Ann | #52 | ||
|
I have two adorable girls Ginger and Mary Ann. Poor Ginger was a reject from Petsmart she had a blocked tear duct and could not be sold. To their credit they
did not opt to euthanize her but to put her up for adoption. A friend of mine knew I was thinking about adopting a piggy so she told me about Ginger and it
was love at first sight. I got Mary Ann from another friend who had inherited her when her son went away to college. It took me almost four weeks to name
them. I searched and searched for just the right names but couldn't find any that fit. Finally one night as I lay pondering this dilemma the names came to
me, Ginger and Mary Ann. They suited the girls perfectly. Ginger is a slender red head and Mary Ann is a sweet little brunette. They are the sweetest little
piggies ever!

When I adopted Bianca, her name was originally Johnny Cash. This uh... didnt really seem to fit her. She is quite the piggy debutante, I thought a proper piggy
name would be better, Bianca just seemed to fit!
When I adopted Paloma she was skittish and scared and also an older piggie. I wanted her to know peace. Paloma is Spanish for dove. It fits her. |
