To help to keep an ongoing medical history of a guinea pig, we kindly
ask posters to limit themselves to one thread per pig, even for various, seemingly unrelated illnesses.
It is a huge help to be able to see the history of illness and treatment for a single pig, and sometimes what initially appears to be individual illnesses, can point to something else when the information is kept together. A single thread per pig also helps to see chronic issues, when and how often they occur. Honestly, it gets confusing answering questions from so many different people and it can be difficult recalling who's pig had what illness. Multiple threads on the same pig can be frustrating and discouraging, especially when I discover I've spent time and effort researching and answering the same question on the same pig more than once. I know others must feel the same way.
Finding previous posts on your guinea pig in order to add more information is fairly straightforward. By clicking on the Navigation button at the top of the screen, you can view recent posts you've written. By clicking on the more|manage link at the bottom right of the posts box, you can get a list of all of your posts. You can also search for previous posts on the forum by word - your guinea pig's name and illness may be a good thing to start with.
Please do not edit previous posts on a sick guinea pig. Add any new illness or updates as a new post to the bottom of the thread. The old post will bump up to the top of the forum because its been added to, and its easy enough for your readers to scroll to the bottom of the post. If you're worried that the new illness has nothing to do with the original title, feel free to edit the title, but please leave the remaining original post information as was. Keeping a history does no good if that history gets edited or erased!
Your help in this will be greatly appreciated! Truly. I can't express that enough.
New threads on an existing issue or pig may be closed, and that information added to the original thread in an effort to simplify and keep the information together.
Thanks so much for your assistance.
