You can certainly try the poop-soup, but I don't think Elvis is having an adverse reaction to the antibiotics. It sounds like its a mixture of an upper respiratory infection and general pain. It sounds like the vet addressed the malocclusion. But I fear that the elongated roots are causing an infection as well, given how his eyes are so gunky.

As for the poops - the ones they pull out (cecal) would be the best, but any of them (fresh ones), would have the bacteria he needs to help out his gut flora.

If he hasn't been eating, you're right in that he's probably dehydrated. A subcue would probably do him the most good in a short amount of time. But given the situation, syringe feeding him water can help a lot.

Baby food is good, too, in a pinch. High fiber stuff is the best, like squash or pumpkin. Carrots are usually well-liked. Stay away from fruits, because the high sugar content would just upset his system. You can usually get syringes (needle-less) at any pharmacy, or sometimes you can find a half-decent feeding syringe with baby stuff at the grocery store (look for the baby-medication area).

Its really important to get something into him. If a guinea pig doesn't eat for more than 12 hours, their digestive tract begins to shut down, and it becomes even harder to get them to pull through. It sounds like he's in a really bad way. I am pulling for you, and send lots of well wishes to you and Elvis. He's obviously a fighter, to have hung in like he has.

Oh, wonderful news! The fact he has an appetite indicates that its probably pain or still some issues with his teeth. It must be hard for him to eat. But that's much better than if you really had to force feed him - that would indicate he's generally feeling unwell.

General rule of thumb is 50cc of mash per kg of pig per day. But usually I go with whatever they'll eat, and adjust to how much they'll eat on their own. I usually do it in 3-4 sittings a day.

I am so glad you got something in him. That will go a long way to making him feel better.

AmeliaDaisy - you're thinking of metacam. Yes - a pain killer would be good to have. Unfortunately, with the holidays, that's probably not feasible. However, its something to talk to the vet about at your first chance.

I am very sorry you lost him. Sometimes pigs will rally, just before they pass. Its so heartbreaking.
