Looking for Female guinea pig in NoVA

Posts: 75 06/16/08 03:33 PM	Tags : None I am looking for a female guinea pig to be companion for Cece as we recently lost Sampson, her (neutered) male companion I got from the rescue. The reason I am not going back to the rescue is that I don't have the time/gas money to drive 1hr 15 mins away to get a guinea pig. I have been checking the local shelters for weeks, and I have been unsuccessful. Let me tell you, if I wanted a rabbit I'd be set; there are so many abandoned rabbits around here. I have seen a few males, but I want a female so that my guinea pigs won't reproduce. I am uncomfortable putting a small animal under anesthesia (plus its wildly expensive). So if anyone in the NoVA area needs to rehome a female guinea pig, I will gladly take her! (As long as I don't have to drive more than 30-40 mins away ;). I live right between Warrenton and Gainesville.

If I search on Petfinder, the only piggies that come up are the ones at Metropolitan Guinea Pig Rescue and some in Maryland. Lol, when I don't want a piggie, they're everywhere, but when I want one I can't find one to save my life. :p Oh yeah, I did follow the link to that guinea pig classifieds forum, so I'm gonna keep checking on there too. Again the only pigs listed in my area where males. Where are all the girls? 0_o

They frequently set up minimeets at locations more convenient to the adopter. It's a smaller selection of pigs but in NoVa that shouldn't be too much of an issue. There are a lot of fosterers there.
