Hi All I posted a few weeks ago, about simon and bubba, well in the end we gave Bubba back to the farm lady who had a home set up for him and we now have Simon
in one c&c cage next to Maybel, so they can see each other.
We have had Mabel since May 14th bought her from a pet store when I was there getting a new water bottle, the conditions that she was housed in were not nice and she was being chased the whole time I stood there watching, oh course they told me it was a male but I seperated them anyways in case of germs sickness etc.
Maybel is hugely pregnant poor girl, and I can feel the babies inside moving, she is long haired so she hides it well but has really gotten big since we got her, I think she has 2 babies because she seems to have a lump on each side.
This week she seems to be more quiet and lays down while she eats , I give her 3 salades a day with chopped apple carrots, peppers etc. Simon is happy because he is eating that too but on a smaller scale, I bought her alfafa hay and mix it in with her regular hay, my question is I have a hard time feeling her pelvic bones and I dont want to pick her up too much as she cries and whines the whole time, she is still very scared, no matter how I hold her she runs up to my shoulder and puts her head beside my neck and kinda whines, she'll stop only to eat a treat if I am holding her, is that normal guinea pig sounds that she is enjoying it or she is hating it?
I dont know how far along she is only that I have had her 30 days on the 14th, so I dont know when she is due, but the babies have grown since last week I felt a kinda swishing and now they move, and I think I heard and felt one moving its teeth? but she runs and jumps into her hay bin and is very easily scared, should I put a house in during the day so she can hide on her own ? I put a tent at night around her bed so she feels safe.
Man this is so stressful poor girl !
The worst part is in that pet store she would have died because there were 5 guinea pigs in there with her and I am sure they would have just noticed a few more and sold them even at 1 day old! Its so unfair!
