I have two piggies, Truffle and Baby, and except for some lice they brought home from the pet store they have always been healthy pigs. In the past three days
or so though, Truffle has been acting strange. Actually they both have been acting a little odd. Neither of them have been eating alot, although they still
seem to be drinking water. They barely touch their pellets, although they devour any green leafys I give them. Because they were still eating veggies, I
thought they were just snubbing their pellets and holding out for salad, which they demand often and loudly. I checked their front teeth, and both of them look
fine, so I wasn't really worried until Truffle started grinding her teeth. She is acting completely normal except for a disinterest in pellets and grinding
her teeth. She also seems a bit less interested in her hay than normal, and she has lost a little weight. I read somewhere that grinding teeth could be a sign
of vitamin C deficiency, so I bought them some piggie vitamin tabs and have been trying to coax them into eating them. Baby happily munched down two of them,
but Truffle just picked at hers. So I mashed up some pellets and vitamin C tabs, put a little fresh tomato juice and torn up parsley and basil in it
(Truffle's favorites) and tried to get her to eat the mash. She picked at it at first, then ate maybe a tablespoon before becoming disinterested. I bought
some veggies high in C, kale, parsley and red pepper and fed them both a big salad of it, so at least they are getting C that way. Could the problem be
something other than vitamin C deficiency? I am a little stumped as to why they will eat some food and not others, and what the constant teeth grinding means.
I examined both of them top to bottom and found nothing unusual. Can anybody help me solve this mystery?
