Guinea pigs are extremely oral -- they like to taste-test anything they can get their teeth on. He is likely just playing. But you can find more information

I was reading this to find an answer to my question about finger nibbling while I was holding ButterCup. The link provided a few possible answers and the
knowledge that I'll need to pay more attention to her. She either wanted back in the cage, had to pee, was being petted in the wrong direction (she's
Abbysinian, so it's sometimes hard to tell), or she was grooming me for the first time. It's seems a bit soon for her wanting to groom me already, but
this was also the first time out of the cage where she felt comfortable enough to look around and not just sit there as I held her and petted her. I also heard
some slight teeth chattering. Rats do this when cat's would purr, and it's called bruxing in rats. Now my next search will be to find information about
that!

Just so you know, I just found the page with sounds of guinea pig noises. She was not teeth chattering. In fact she was chutting and occasionally turning her
head to give me kisses! I had no idea they gave piggie kisses like that! How special am I (to ButterCup anyway LOL)?

I'm so excited! I just had ButterCup out for a bit while I held and stroked her. She started the finger nibbling again, so as suggested in the article I
gave her my flat palm in case she was grooming. She continued to "groom" my palm even though she couldn't get a firm grip on it, suggesting that
it actually was an attempt to groom me! =)

Probably a good idea. LOL She's taken to licking as well as nibbling when she grooms my fingers, but she got a bit rambunctious with it this evening and
broke skin in my thumb. Just a little cut; not deep. Just felt like a sharp enough pinch to make me gasp. It startled her, but she was shortly gently grooming
me again before being put back in the cage so I could get a bandaid. LOL
