Hi-I am fairly new to guinea pig slavedom (very familiar with cat and bunny slavedom however) and I had a few questions. I have read pretty much every thread
on this entire forum, so I'll try not to ask the same questions that someone else already has:
1. Should I do mite treatment on my new babies even if it is not confirmed that they have mites? They were a private rehome, and I really have no evidence (they make noises when I pet them but I just think they are still pretty scared) but I just don't want them to be hurting if I can prevent it. I guess I am asking how common it is and if it is better to assume a new pig does have mites, or to assume they don't unless presented with some solid evidence of such.
2. Is petromalt necessary for guinea pigs? I know I use it for my rabbits to prevent hairballs (and my cats as well, of course) but I wasn't sure if it was needed for guinea pigs.
TIA, I am so excited to have these girls in my life. Every time they start wheeking I smile.
